Job Overview

The Sales Director is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding customer relationships within the warehousing, logistics, and supply chain sector. This role places a strong emphasis on developing and selling warehousing, distribution, and fulfillment solutions, while also promoting related transportation and value-added services. The individual identifies new business opportunities, builds strategic partnerships, and delivers comprehensive solutions that align with customer needs. Collaboration across internal departments ensures seamless execution and high levels of customer satisfaction. Success in this role requires strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, along with a proven ability to grow warehousing-based revenue streams.

 

Essential Functions

 

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities in warehousing, fulfillment, and logistics services.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline through prospecting, referrals, and industry networking.
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers in target markets and customer organizations.

 

Sales Strategy

  • Create and execute sales strategies that prioritize warehousing and distribution growth.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform pricing, positioning, and expansion plans.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define annual goals and business development initiatives.

 

Customer Solutions

  • Design and deliver customized warehousing and logistics solutions that meet client needs for storage, distribution, and operational efficiency.
  • Work with internal teams to integrate value-added services and optimize customer supply chains.
  • Present solution proposals that highlight ROI, scalability, and operational excellence.

 

Negotiation

  • Lead pricing discussions and contract negotiations for warehousing and logistics agreements.
  • Structure proposals that balance customer requirements with company profitability goals.

 

Collaboration

  • Partner with operations, warehouse management, and customer service to ensure smooth service implementation and consistent customer experience.
  • Support coordination between departments to deliver on customer commitments effectively.

 

Market Awareness

  • Stay informed on industry trends, market demand, and warehousing capacity dynamics.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and adjust strategies based on market conditions.

 

Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM systems.
  • Track key performance metrics including warehouse utilization, revenue growth, and pipeline activity.

 

Compliance

  • Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and contractual obligations.

 

Customer Engagement

  • Conduct business reviews and provide guidance on best practices in warehousing and logistics management.
  • Foster long-term partnerships through proactive communication and solution improvement.

 

Problem Resolution

  • Address customer challenges quickly and effectively, ensuring satisfaction and retention.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to identify and resolve operational or capacity issues.

 

Networking

  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and professional associations to strengthen market presence and build connections.

 

Continuous Development

  • Stay informed about advancements in warehouse management systems (WMS), automation, and logistics technologies.
  • Apply new insights to enhance customer value and service delivery.

 

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in sales leadership within warehousing, distribution, or logistics services.
  • Demonstrated success in developing, negotiating, and managing warehousing or fulfillment contracts.
