The Senior VMware Engineer plays a key role in leading the design, deployment, and management of enterprise infrastructure systems. This position ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of core IT environments, while providing senior-level technical expertise and mentorship to engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in virtualization, networking, and systems administration, with the ability to drive improvements across the enterprise infrastructure landscape.
Lead the planning, implementation, and maintenance of virtualization and network infrastructure, including servers, storage, switches, and wireless systems.
Ensure stable and secure operations through proactive monitoring, automation, and process optimization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure solutions with organizational objectives.
Provide mentorship and technical leadership to network and systems engineers.
Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and governance practices.
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and lead root-cause analysis and remediation.
Research and recommend emerging technologies to enhance performance, scalability, and automation.
Manage vendor relationships and coordinate technical support as needed.
Oversee data backup, disaster recovery, and system resilience initiatives.
Maintain current knowledge of best practices, tools, and technologies in systems and network engineering.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years of experience in network and systems engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership capacity.
Expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, and enterprise storage environments.
Proficiency with routing, switching, SD-WAN, and enterprise wireless systems.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills using tools for packet capture and performance monitoring.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, Aruba Central).
Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or similar).
Understanding of storage networking (iSCSI, FCoE) and Linux administration.
Knowledge of SQL service configuration and performance optimization.
Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure and systems architecture.
Ability to design and execute scalable, secure, and efficient technical solutions.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Effective communicator and team leader.
Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments.
