Pathology ManagerLocation: Baltimore, Maryland, United StatesFull-time

Our Award-Winning Client, a nationally recognized leader in the healthcare industry, is seeking a highly experienced professional to lead its Anatomic Pathology/Histology department. The client, known for their outstanding service, has earned multiple awards and operates across the country. This managerial position will involve supervising a team of histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, and Pathologists' Assistants while overseeing essential pathology operations including specimen grossing, processing and cutting, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains, frozen section processing, and digital pathology. Familiarity with regulatory requirements, technical and professional billing standards, and Pathology Outreach programs is preferred.

Position Summary:In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for directing the delivery and development of both current and future laboratory services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and compliance. Key responsibilities include managing operational budgets, maintaining performance benchmarks, and aligning department services with institutional goals. You will also lead the planning for future needs, including staffing, equipment, and facilities. Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining a productive department are critical aspects of this role.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive test menu to meet the clinical and financial objectives of the organization.
  • Manage operational budgets, preparing detailed variance reports as needed.
  • Lead the hiring, orientation, and competency assessments of staff, ensuring high performance through thorough evaluations.
  • Oversee productivity and resource utilization within the department.
  • Align services with institutional strategies and goals while planning for future staffing and equipment needs.
  • Prepare justifications and supporting documents for procurement of necessary resources.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent expertise across multiple disciplines, with a deep understanding of pathology services.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical and professional billing and regulatory standards.
  • Preferred experience in Pathology Outreach programs.

  • MT (ASCP)
  • SBB (ASCP)
  • PA (ASCP)

Candidate Details:With 5-7 years of management experience, the ideal candidate possesses a master's degree and extensive knowledge of pathology services, including compliance, regulatory standards, and operational leadership. They must be comfortable leading teams, handling operational budgets, and aligning services with the organization's strategic goals. The individual should also be willing to travel frequently as part of the role.
