Our Award-Winning Client, a national leader in SaaS solutions, has received numerous accolades and is seeking a Staff Revenue Accountant for their Chicago, IL office. This newly created position is crucial in overseeing revenue accounting operations in compliance with U.S. GAAP. The successful candidate will also play a key role in technical accounting, process improvement, and supporting various financial audits.

Responsibilities:

• Perform reviews of sales agreements to ensure revenue recognition is in line with ASC 606 guidelines and internal policies.
• Collaborate closely with teams to move sales data from Salesforce CPQ to Sage Intacct, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing and revenue recognition.
• Partner with Service Operations to ensure the accuracy of time tracking and billing rates, and ensure this data is transferred into Intacct for appropriate revenue recognition.
• Assist in responding to requests from Sales and Accounts Receivable teams, resolving matters related to contract terms, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
• Lead month-end close activities, including reconciling revenue, deferred revenue, and unbilled revenue.
• Participate in forecasting and analysis of monthly revenue.
• Support external financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
• Conduct research on accounting standard adoptions and contribute to policy updates.
• Engage in process improvement projects related to the Order to Cash process, enhancing efficiency.
• Collaborate on ad-hoc projects as directed by the Technical Accounting team to support various initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably within public accounting or a SaaS environment.
• Pursuit of or holding a CPA license is a strong plus.
• Expertise with Salesforce CPQ and/or Intacct is desirable.
• Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606, with the ability to manage complex accounting issues.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Technical Skills Required:

• Knowledge of revenue recognition principles under ASC 606.
• Familiarity with Salesforce CPQ and Sage Intacct for revenue operations.
• Technical accounting skills and the ability to collaborate on accounting standard updates.

Must-Haves:

• 1-3 years of experience in public accounting or accounting within a SaaS company.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA license (in pursuit or possessed).

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with Salesforce CPQ or Intacct.
• Exposure to technical accounting.
