As the Area Process Manager – Paper, you will lead and support a high-performance production process in a modern paper manufacturing facility, guiding your team towards operational excellence and business success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead production operations in the paper mill, focusing on safety, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Drive improvements in manufacturing techniques, leveraging tools like ME principles and IP’s Reliability Roadmap.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of sustainable manufacturing systems, including TCC (Trouble/Cause/Correction) and Centerlining.
  • Provide leadership and resources to support a high-performance, engaged team.
  • Promote a culture of empowerment, participation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee quality management processes to meet customer and environmental standards.
  • Develop and maintain operational methods for continuous improvement.
  • Manage daily operations, coordinate between shift teams, and optimize production processes.
  • Lead year-over-year cost improvement initiatives and develop related capital projects.
  • Foster positive team member relations and ensure clear communication of company policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by leading and modeling safety practices.
  • Manage supplier relationships to maximize total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Support the development of area goals, budgets, and operational plans.

Physical Demands / Working Environment:

  • Ability to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Exposure to noise levels above 90 dB and occasional heat above 100°F.
  • Must be available to work in a 24/7 environment and be on-call as needed.
  • Ability to work on concrete surfaces and occasionally move equipment/tools weighing up to 50 lbs.

Key Knowledge and Experience:

  • Required:

    • 2-5 years of supervisory or project management experience in the paper industry.
    • Experience in working with Maintenance and Engineering teams for optimization projects.
    • Proven ability to develop teams and lead safe work practices.
    • Experience in setting up manufacturing systems and area goals using reliable and sustainable methods.
  • Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.
    • Leadership experience in a high-performance, quality-focused environment.
    • Knowledge of paper mill safety practices.
    • GreenBelt Certification.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
