As the Area Process Manager – Boiler Steam Plant, you will play a critical role in managing the operations and maintenance activities of a high-performance boiler steam plant. You’ll lead the charge in building and supporting a high-performance team to achieve superior business results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead steam plant area operations with a focus on safety, production efficiency, and reliability.
  • Coordinate the design review, construction, and start-up of a greenfield electrical and steam-generating facility.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of a gas turbine and heat recovery steam generator to meet production needs.
  • Champion key initiatives related to environmental standards, operational excellence, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Apply sustainability tools and methods, including TCC (Trouble/Cause/Correction) and Centerlining, to optimize processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources to drive the plant's performance and maintain high safety standards.
  • Develop and coach the maintenance and operations team, ensuring a high-performance, empowered workforce.
  • Support budget planning and implementation for area-specific projects and improvements.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and form strategic partnerships to maximize value.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and facility policies.
  • Lead safety initiatives, reinforcing the importance of a safe work environment.

Physical Demands / Working Environment:

  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operating environment and be on-call as needed.
  • Exposure to noise levels above 90 dB and occasional heat above 100°F.
  • Must be able to work on concrete and periodically lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Wear all required safety equipment.

Key Knowledge and Experience:

  • Required:

    • 2-5 years of supervisory or project management experience in boiler operations or steam generation.
    • Experience with maintenance, engineering, and process optimization.
    • Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
    • Experience in safe work practices and implementing manufacturing systems.
  • Preferred:

    • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering.
    • GreenBelt Certification.
    • Knowledge of International Paper Boiler Policy.
    • Leadership experience in a high-performance work system or quality-focused environment.
