Our Award-Winning Client, a recognized leader with a national presence, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Grind to join their innovative team in East Aurora, NY. This role requires an experienced professional with expertise in ID/OD grinding, N/C programming, and precision machining. The selected candidate will play a key role in optimizing production processes, ensuring quality, and enhancing manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed manufacturing procedures and operation sequences to align with engineering specifications.
  • Determine tooling, gauging, and fixture requirements for the production of machined components and sub-assemblies.
  • Prepare operation sheets and N/C programs, while accurately estimating setup and run hours for production.
  • Ensure engineering designs are compatible with manufacturing processes, recommending necessary modifications to enhance manufacturability.
  • Provide technical support to resolve shop floor challenges, assisting with program prove-out and machine setup.
  • Develop and validate N/C programming to produce high-precision components.
  • Establish and approve tool, gaging, and fixture designs, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in machining.
  • Perform time studies to define standard run and setup times for assigned parts.
  • Conduct process improvement initiatives, including identifying and implementing enhancements in equipment, processes, and materials.
  • Support cost estimation efforts for new projects and proposals.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to optimize facility usage and streamline manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee rework processes, ensuring corrective measures are implemented to prevent recurring discrepancies.
  • Work with external vendors to coordinate both internal and external manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure adherence to strict safety protocols in all production and operational activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, OR
  • Associate’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • High School diploma with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in ID/OD grinding
  • Proficiency in close-tolerance machining (.0005” or less)
  • Strong experience in N/C programming and machining setup/operation
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills to coordinate across teams effectively

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Strong knowledge of external & internal grinding processes
  • Expertise in precision machining and N/C programming
  • Experience with grinding applications in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing
