They are currently seeking a Nurse Manager - Bone Marrow for their prestigious cancer care center in San Francisco, California. This role is essential in leading a team dedicated to advancing bone marrow and cellular therapies, providing specialized care, and contributing to groundbreaking research in blood conditions, including cancers of the blood and bone marrow.
As a certified treatment center for FDA-approved CAR-T therapies and with a home-grown CAR-T program, Our Award Winning Client remains at the forefront of cellular therapy. The cancer program encompasses a large clinical service team and operates across multiple campuses with inpatient, outpatient, and research services. This position plays a vital role in ensuring high standards of patient care, team management, and compliance with internal and external regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the coordination and management of patient care for the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy team, ensuring all procedures and care protocols align with scientific, evidence-based practices.
- Direct a team of Nurse Coordinators and Practice Coordinators, collaborating closely with attending physicians and quality managers to drive excellence in patient care.
- Develop and revise standard operating procedures for all aspects of BMT/Cellular Therapy patient care, including donor evaluation, peripheral blood cell apheresis, bone marrow harvest, and admission planning.
- Participate in quality management activities and performance improvement initiatives, using indicators to evaluate staff and patient outcomes.
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate staff performance while implementing improvement strategies to enhance patient care and team efficiency.
- Actively engage in patient, staff, and provider education to ensure a cohesive understanding of procedures, regulations, and new trends in BMT/Cellular Therapy.
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines, including inpatient, outpatient, home care, and referring providers, to improve the overall care process and service efficiency.
Required Skills and Certifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California and/or licensure in relevant clinical specialty
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Minimum five (5) years of experience as a registered nurse
- Minimum three (3) years of RN experience in Hematology/BMT/Cellular Therapies
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a nurse supervisor or nurse manager role in a matrixed academic setting
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate work efficiently.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative, goal-oriented work environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance environments, and best practices in clinic/center healthcare.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative.
- Knowledge of patient care workflows, healthcare information technology, and fiscal management in clinical settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BMTCN (ONCC) Certification
- Master's Degree
- Experience with TJC and FACT accreditation surveys
- Experience managing union-represented employees
