With a global presence and an unwavering commitment to quality, they are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Manager to join their team in Defiance County, Ohio.

Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance Manager will be a key member of the site leadership team, tasked with overseeing the entire quality management process. This role focuses on ensuring that all products adhere to stringent safety and quality standards, as well as meeting both regulatory and customer requirements. The manager will lead initiatives to cultivate a continuous improvement culture and will directly implement quality systems related to production, packaging, storage, and product release.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain all quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations.
  • Promote a culture where quality production and continuous improvement are top priorities, fostering teamwork across departments.
  • Collaborate with area managers to improve production performance based on risk assessments, ingredient testing, and observations.
  • Implement quality programs to ensure compliance with third-party standards such as AIB and SQF, and lead efforts in FSMA and HACCP.
  • Update and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Sanitation SOPs (SSOPs).
  • Oversee customer and regulatory audits, addressing and resolving any quality or food safety issues.
  • Stay current with food safety trends, advising on necessary changes to quality programs.
  • Work with research and production teams to develop new processes, products, and equipment, ensuring they align with quality expectations.
  • Manage internal audit programs, ensuring corrective actions are taken as needed.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to evaluate process performance and make data-driven improvements.
  • Lead training and development initiatives to increase overall quality awareness across the plant.
  • Develop and implement a Continuous Improvement plan based on analysis of complaints, audits, and corrective actions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the food, supplement, or a related industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry guidelines, including SQF, FSMA, and HACCP.
  • PCQI and HACCP certifications are preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and spend extended periods standing, walking, or reaching.

Candidate Details:

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in the food and beverage manufacturing industry or supplements, along with a bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field. While management experience is not required, the individual should demonstrate strong leadership potential and a commitment to promoting quality standards. They should have a track record of working within stringent food safety regulations and a passion for continuous improvement. This role does not require travel.
