An international Professional Services Firm with offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia is seeking a Business Development Specialist. This role may be based in the New York or Washington, DC office.
The BD Specialist will support a wide range of business development activities, with a primary focus on the Litigation Department, including the White Collar, Complex Litigation, Securities Enforcement & Litigation, and Appellate & Supreme Court practice groups. This position works closely with lawyers, business development managers, and other firm staff to manage practice group and individual attorney business development and marketing initiatives. Key responsibilities include handling pitches and proposals, preparing submissions for legal publications, and coordinating webinars, sponsorships, and conferences. The role may also support other practice areas, industry groups, or firm initiatives as needed, and reports to the Director of Business Development.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Collaborate with Business Development Managers and/or attorneys to support marketing, business, and client development projects for designated groups and initiatives.
Manage the RFP, pitch, and proposal processes from planning through submission.
Partner with attorneys, marketing staff, and other firm personnel to develop and execute proposals and presentations.
Identify relevant content, edit existing materials, and draft new content for proposals and pitches.
Produce initial drafts of marketing and business development materials.
Coordinate information and research requests with internal teams, including research, accounting, and administrative staff.
Oversee the assembly, production, and delivery of final materials.
Drive data collection and coordinate submissions to Chambers, The Legal 500, Law360, Benchmark Litigation, and other publications.
Manage in-person and virtual conferences, seminars, forums, sponsorships, and speaking engagements; provide on-site event support as needed.
Maintain practice group content in firm databases.
Utilize CRM and experience management systems to identify relationship targets and relevant experience for business development opportunities.
Draft and update marketing collateral, including brochures, one-pagers, PowerPoint decks, attorney bios, and experience lists.
Mentor junior staff on best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in marketing, business development, or client relations, preferably in a professional services setting; legal marketing experience preferred.
Knowledge of business development and proposal processes preferred.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Experience with CRM and other experience management systems is a plus.
Ability to work effectively with partners and senior firm leadership.
Strong project management skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
