A leading international law firm is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join its Washington, DC office.
The HR Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Department, with a focus on onboarding, HR initiatives, and general administrative functions. This position will also work closely with the Leave of Absence team to provide support for related processes and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Process FMLA payroll authorizations for staff and attorneys.
Handle electronic filing for FMLA and personnel files, including creating new hire personnel files.
Process professional staff employment verifications.
Coordinate logistics for professional staff new hire orientation in the DC office.
Maintain bi-weekly updates to the firm’s organizational charts.
Prepare monthly ARC ratios for all U.S. offices.
Provide administrative assistance to the Leave of Absence team.
Help maintain HR and Leave of Absence intranet landing pages.
Review HR-related e-bulletins/publications on employment law updates across all firm jurisdictions and prepare weekly summaries.
Assist with planning and execution of HR events, including Staff Appreciation Week.
Perform a variety of administrative tasks and general HR support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Two-year college degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of one year of office experience.
Experience in a law firm, corporate, or professional environment preferred.
Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (or related software).
High degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Reliable, dependable, and self-motivated.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
