Installation Technician 3

The Installation Technician 3 is responsible for executing installation tasks for contracted projects. These tasks include, but are not limited to, pulling and terminating cables, installing system equipment and components, fabricating and wiring racks, and performing metal fabrication. This role requires leading and directing installation crews on larger and more complex projects by coordinating with and reporting progress to the Project Manager, ensuring that project objectives for time, scope, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction are met.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Execute installation tasks outlined in the project scope, following provided directives.
  • Provide on-site leadership, mentoring Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians, and ensuring quality control for all work.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
  • Utilize hand and power tools for soldering, crimping connectors, and other AV system-related tasks.
  • Perform point-to-point cabling tests, system functionality checks, and field-load programming for control and DSP systems as needed.
  • Assist Engineers or Programmers with minor programming adjustments.
  • Manage, track, and secure all tools and equipment on the job site.
  • Collaborate with office staff to initiate return material authorizations when required.
  • Support the Project Manager by supervising the installation team on-site, providing daily job site updates, and completing necessary documentation.
  • Act as a customer liaison on-site per the project scope, directing on-site change requests to the Project Manager for approval.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with other trades on-site.
  • Provide client training as necessary.
  • Travel to various job sites as required.

Must-Haves:

  • Strong knowledge of complex wiring configurations and signal flow for audio, video, control, and network systems.
  • Proven ability to lead site teams on medium to large, complex projects.
  • Competence in making minor control system programming changes and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using specific test equipment relevant to the job.
  • A minimum of 4–6 years of experience in audiovisual, electronics, or a related industry.
