Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Dermatology & Pediatrics

Position Summary:Under the direction of practice leadership and providers, the LPN is responsible for assisting with patient assessment, care coordination, clinical procedures, and maintaining documentation. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to dermatology and pediatric patients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete nursing assessments including vital signs, chief complaints, allergies, medications, and other age-appropriate measurements (height, weight, head circumference for pediatrics).

  • Document patient history, assessments, and significant findings; notify provider of any abnormalities.

  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures, providing age-appropriate education, reassurance, and support.

  • Assist with dermatologic and pediatric procedures and treatments.

  • Perform laboratory tests, administer medications (oral, IM, subcutaneous, dermal), and follow up as directed.

  • Triage patient calls, gather information, consult with providers, and communicate instructions to patients.

  • Manage inventory, order clinical supplies, maintain equipment, and ensure clean and organized clinical areas.

  • Ensure proper documentation, including patient consent forms and sample medication logs.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold privacy standards.

  • Support a safe environment by adhering to infection control, sterile technique, and safety protocols.

  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changes in workflow, volume, and scheduling.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by providers or practice leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current LPN license.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical setting, preferably with dermatology and pediatric patients.

  • Strong clinical skills including pediatric assessments and assisting with dermatology procedures.

  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and modern office technology.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.

Physical & Sensory Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, lift (up to 20 lbs frequently; up to 100 lbs occasionally).

  • Adequate visual acuity and hearing to perform clinical duties and communicate effectively.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and focus.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Ability to communicate respectfully with patients, families, physicians, staff, and external partners.

  • Calm and effective demeanor during patient interactions and challenging situations.

  • Positive, cooperative, and team-oriented attitude.
