Surgical Technician – Owosso, MI

Seeking a detail-oriented Surgical Technician to support surgical services by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile environments, and assisting surgeons during procedures. The ideal candidate will be skilled in aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and patient safety, and will play a key role in ensuring efficient and high-quality care throughout surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and organize instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.

  • Maintain sterile technique during all aspects of surgical preparation and procedures.

  • Assist surgeons by passing instruments, retracting tissue, and anticipating needs.

  • Ensure accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts.

  • Label specimens appropriately and maintain patient safety throughout procedures.

  • Clean and restock operating rooms after cases.

  • Maintain specialty carts and stay current with required competencies and in-service trainings.

  • Support accurate documentation and compliance with standards and policies.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific patient care needs.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.

  • Current certification (TS-C) required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.

  • Previous experience in multiple surgical specialties preferred.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterilization practices.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and respond quickly in urgent situations.

  • Physical ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Professional, courteous, and maintains strict confidentiality.
