We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tooling Center Machining Center Specialist to support the in-house manufacturing of foundry tooling—including patterns, core boxes, associated components, and injection molding machine molds—using advanced 5-axis machining. This role is critical to maintaining exceptional quality standards and delivering consistent, high-precision tooling for internal and external customers.
Key Objectives:
Sustainability: Complete 30 projects per year
Customer Experience: Maintain +/- .010” form accuracy on 100% of customer projects
Leadership: Complete one continuing education activity annually
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
CNC Machine Operation (60%) – Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings – Set up, adjust, and operate CNC machines – Monitor machining processes for accuracy, quality, and specification compliance – Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other tools – Maintain a clean and organized workspace while following safety protocols
Programming (30%) – Use conversational programming to create work holding fixtures – Select proper tooling and calculate speeds and feeds to ensure optimal quality and efficiency
Continuous Education (10%) – Pursue ongoing education in CAD/CAM processes, tooling, and work holding technologies – Stay current with technological advancements and continuously seek improvement opportunities through research and professional development
Technical Skills:
Preferred:
CAD/CAM software experience (e.g., Mastercam Mill 3D Certification, Solidworks CSWA or higher)
Multi-axis machine experience
Metallurgical and foundry tooling knowledge
Required:
Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings
Verifiable CNC machining experience
Strong problem-solving skills
Knowledge of various materials
Strong mathematical aptitude, including trigonometry and geometry
Education and Experience:
Technical/Vocational training in CNC Machining, Precision Machining Technology, or Manufacturing Technology preferred
Proven experience with 5-axis machining preferred
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience required
