Our Award Winning Client is seeking a skilled Electrical/Controls Engineer II to join their team in Etowah, Tennessee. Position Overview:

The Electrical/Controls Engineer II will be responsible for providing electrical controls engineering support and overseeing the implementation of capital projects across manufacturing facilities in North America. This involves project management, troubleshooting, and maintenance of plant power systems and controls, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement in plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and oversee electrical controls engineering for various plant projects with minimal supervision.
  • Draft and review technical specifications for both equipment and processes.
  • Collaborate with corporate teams to implement electrical standards and specifications.
  • Provide guidance and ensure the completion of electrical safety initiatives within the plant.
  • Manage multiple projects, overseeing budgeting, schedules, scope, and compliance, while ensuring timely project completion.
  • Maintain communication with management and key stakeholders on project status, challenges, and changes.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and external engineering resources to ensure project goals are met, including commissioning, training, and startup.
  • Develop bid documentation, evaluate suppliers, and recommend equipment purchases.
  • Support root cause failure analysis for plant operations and develop corrective action plans.
  • Provide expertise in electrical and control system maintenance, supporting plant operations teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with at least 3 years of experience in control systems engineering within a continuous or discrete manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Allen-Bradley PLC, HMI applications, and enterprise-level control networks.
  • Experience applying NFPA 70E standards regarding electrical safety, specifically related to arc flash and shock hazards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute projects between $50k and $2MM.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with internal and external teams effectively.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards driving improvements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Expertise in handling 480V to 13,800V power distribution systems, including power distribution panels, motor control centers, and switchgear.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage systems such as 2300V, 4160V, and 13,800V distribution systems.

Candidate Details:

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a strong background in control systems engineering in manufacturing. They will have extensive experience troubleshooting, supporting plant operations, and implementing capital upgrades. A strong understanding of both PLC and DCS systems, as well as experience working with various voltage levels and instrumentation, is essential for success in this role.
