Our Award-Winning Client is seeking a skilled Plant Engineer to join their team at a key facility. This is a full-time, hybrid role that requires on-site presence for part of the week. Our client is a recognized leader in waste management solutions, with a national reputation and numerous accolades for operational excellence. This facility converts waste into energy, generating power for the local grid and steam for nearby buildings, supporting sustainable environmental practices.
The Plant Engineer will play a crucial role in managing projects, providing engineering direction, and supporting operations and maintenance activities at the facility. This position entails overseeing the safe and efficient operation of power plant assets, including the coordination of major upgrades, scheduled maintenance, and improvement initiatives. The Plant Engineer will guide multi-disciplinary teams to achieve high standards of performance while adhering to environmental regulations.
Direct Capital and O&M Projects: Manage multi-faceted capital projects related to power plant operations, adhering to project management principles across scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
Collaborate with Facility Leadership: Work closely with the Facility Manager, Operations Leader, and Maintenance Leader to optimize facility operations, maximize performance, and ensure minimal environmental impact.
Technical Inspection and Recommendations: Participate in inspection of equipment during scheduled maintenance outages to provide technical guidance and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
Coordinate Technical and Professional Teams: Direct teams, including consultants and contractors, on the design and execution of assigned projects, ensuring that projects align with strategic and operational goals.
Oversee Process Optimization: Lead troubleshooting for process control systems, plant systems, and equipment to ensure efficient and reliable plant operations.
System and Equipment Improvements: Review and recommend changes for equipment design and operational systems to address any challenges.
Maintain Code Compliance: Provide expertise on boiler and pressure vessel codes as well as other essential maintenance standards.
Project Reporting: Produce reports on the status of assigned projects, offering regular updates on schedules and costs.
Industry Networking: Engage with industry experts to stay current on best practices, enhancing the facility’s asset reliability projects.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is required.
Experience: Minimum of seven years in project engineering, ideally with experience in power generation or waste-to-energy facilities.
Project Management Proficiency: Expertise in project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, and procurement, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
Technical Skills: Proficient with PC-based software, including reporting tools, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and presentation software.
Communication and Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on clear and effective interpersonal interaction.
Background Requirements: Successful completion of a background check, drug/alcohol test, and references.
Schedule: Primarily Monday – Friday, with additional hours as needed during scheduled maintenance outages.
Safety-Sensitive: This role is safety-sensitive, requiring drug, cannabis, and alcohol testing.
