Senior Project Manager - Mobile, AL

Our Award Winning Client, a respected leader in engineering, construction management, and technical services, is hiring a Senior Project Manager to drive large-scale projects in Mobile, AL. With national recognition for excellence and a commitment to high-quality client partnerships, they have a strong reputation across multiple sectors including energy, manufacturing, research and development, and process-heavy industries.

Position Overview:

The Senior Project Manager will lead and oversee multi-disciplinary engineering project teams, focusing on quality and cost-efficient project delivery. This role requires seasoned expertise in managing projects within heavy industrial environments, specifically those involving chemical and refining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Coordinate resources effectively, leading engineers and designers to achieve high-quality results on schedule and within budget.
  • Project Execution: Monitor and control project scope, budget, and schedule using advanced project control tools. Ensure all deliverables meet client and internal quality standards.
  • Client Relationship Management: Work directly with clients to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables while fostering long-term relationships that promote additional services.
  • Change Management: Manage and communicate scope changes and champion a positive approach to Project Change Notices.
  • Project Planning: Oversee cost estimates and adjust as necessary throughout project phases; maintain updated project plans and action items.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely project documentation and regular reporting of team progress, compliance with engineering practices, and alignment with client requirements.
  • Construction Support: Provide support during the construction phase, addressing any Requests for Information and assisting with start-up processes.

Ideal Candidate Background:

  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in engineering project management within heavy industrial settings; extensive experience with chemical plant operations and refining is preferred.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering is ideal.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Strong expertise in Microsoft Office and project management software, with demonstrated experience in project controls, construction management, and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Competencies: Ability to lead complex projects, maintain client relationships in demanding environments, communicate effectively across disciplines, and prioritize under pressure.

Required Skills:

  1. Significant experience in heavy industrial settings
  2. Chemical plant project management background
  3. Refining experience preferred
  4. Ability to manage engineering projects with a focus on technical deliverables and resource coordination

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
