We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Network Monitoring & Audit Engineer to support the visibility, performance, and security of client and internal networks. This role is responsible for configuring and managing network monitoring platforms (particularly Auvik), conducting network and security audits, and delivering clear, actionable insights to technical teams and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on networking knowledge with strong analytical and communication skills to proactively identify risks, performance issues, and configuration gaps across complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

đź”§ Network Monitoring & Configuration

  • Configure and manage Auvik for real-time visibility and alerting.

  • Perform device discovery and ensure accurate topology mapping.

  • Set up SNMP, WMI, syslog, and NetFlow/sFlow for comprehensive monitoring.

  • Manage device access via SSH/RDP and perform firmware checks or updates.

  • Script or automate routine configuration or monitoring tasks (CLI, API).

📊 Network & Security Auditing

  • Audit device configurations against security or performance standards (NIST, CIS, etc.).

  • Identify misconfigurations, exposed services, and policy violations.

  • Document audit findings and recommend remediation plans.

  • Generate reports for both technical and executive audiences.

đź§  Analysis & Communication

  • Interpret performance data and diagnose root causes of anomalies.

  • Establish performance baselines and fine-tune alert thresholds.

  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.

  • Integrate Auvik data with RMM/PSA/ticketing systems like ConnectWise or Autotask.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, VLANs, and routing basics.

  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, switches, routers, and access points.

  • Proficiency with Auvik or similar network monitoring tools.

  • Familiarity with REST APIs and integrating with third-party systems.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in audit/report generation.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with MSPs or multi-tenant environments.

  • Familiarity with configuration backup and change tracking tools.

  • Awareness of ITIL or ITSM frameworks.

  • Security-minded with knowledge of audit standards or compliance frameworks.
