Our client, a leading unionized food manufacturer, is currently in search of a highly skilled Senior Accounting Manager to join their team in Brampton, ON.

 

The Senior Accounting Manager is empowered to lead the dynamic accounting team and drive excellence in general accounting, payables, receivables, cost accounting, business analysis, financial reporting, and internal controls. You will report into the Director of Finance and will have 2 direct reports (Controller and AP).

Senior Accounting Manager Details

·       Monday-Friday, 8am- 5pm* flexible

Senior Accounting Manager Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of the accounting team across all areas, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cost accounting.
  • Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of internal controls within the accounting department.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance to analyze and accurately report the financial results for the current month.
  • Evaluate internal controls in accordance with JSOX regulations to guarantee proper asset protection and accurate reporting of financial outcomes.
  • Provide all required financial data to the Director of Finance as requested.
  • Organize, plan, and manage the annual external audit process.
  • Ensure timely completion of all federal corporate tax filings and Statistics Canada reports.
  • Oversee cash management processes and related reporting.
  • Handle additional financial data processing and respond to ad hoc requests.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in accounting software systems.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments in collaboration with various departments on capital projects aimed at reducing costs and enhancing plant operations, driving cost-saving initiatives.
  • Lead the budgeting process, including the strategy and business planning for plant manufacturing, maintenance, and overhead costs, ensuring effective communication throughout.
  • Work alongside the Director of Finance to align strategic objectives with operations at the manufacturing plant.
  • Provide regular updates to the plant leadership team regarding monthly performance and budget forecasts, collaborating with departments to identify and develop action plans for any performance gaps.

 

Senior Accounting Manager Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree: a professional accounting designation is highly desirable.

·        CPA designation required

·        Previous experience in a manufacturing required, food manufacturing preferred.

·        Skilled in Excel and Word, with experience in utilizing accounting and manufacturing software systems.

·        Strong leadership, analytical, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

·        Detail orientated with strong organizational skills are required.
