Job Summary 

The Senior Project Manager oversees and manages cultural resource projects from inception to completion. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for ensuring project success, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction while leading a team of cultural resource professionals.

Compensation: 

Chloeta reserves the right to offer any candidate above or below the listed compensation amount based on experience or business needs.  

  • $100,000-$140,000 per year  
  • FLSA Exempt 

 

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Leads and manages cultural resource projects, including archaeological surveys, site evaluations, monitoring, mitigation, and data recovery efforts, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. 
  • Develops project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and oversees project implementation to ensure timely completion within budgetary constraints. 
  • Coordinates with clients, regulatory agencies, tribal representatives, landowners, and other stakeholders to establish project objectives, address concerns, and facilitate project approval. 
  • Conducts project risk assessments and develops strategies to mitigate risks and challenges associated with cultural resource projects.
  • Provides technical guidance and oversight to project teams, including archaeologists, field technicians, and subcontractors, to ensure the accuracy and quality of fieldwork, data collection, and reporting.
  • Prepares technical reports, cultural resource assessments, environmental impact statements, and other documentation for regulatory review and compliance.
  • Manages project finances, including tracking expenses, invoicing, and forecasting, to ensure financial accountability and profitability.
  • Stays current on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in cultural resource management and archaeological practice.

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Ability to develop comprehensive project plans, including scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation, and effectively execute them to achieve project objectives. 
  • Experience in managing project finances, including budgeting, tracking expenses, invoicing, and forecasting, to ensure financial accountability and profitability. 
  • Capacity to implement quality assurance measures and oversee quality control processes to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of fieldwork, data collection, and reporting. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CRM principles, practices, and regulations, including federal laws such as the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and associated guidelines for cultural resource management and mitigation. 
  • Proficiency in archaeological field methods, including survey techniques, excavation procedures, artifact analysis, and site documentation, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of fieldwork and reporting. 
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing cultural resources, such as Section 106 compliance, and experience in navigating regulatory processes and obtaining project approvals. 
  • Experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary project teams, providing guidance, direction, and mentorship to team members, and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. 
  • Ability to negotiate project terms, resolve conflicts, and address concerns with clients, stakeholders, and team members in a constructive and diplomatic manner. 
  • Capacity to make informed decisions and solve problems efficiently, considering project objectives, regulatory requirements, stakeholder interests, and available resources. 

 

Education and Experience 

  • Required: Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field to cultural resources. 
  • Required:At least ten (10) years of experience in project management on cultural resource projects. 
  • Required: Completion of field school in Archaeology or Anthropology 
  • Preferred: At least two (2) years of cultural resources experience in the Great Plains Regions; Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas
  • Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
