Job Title: RIDOT Chief Inspector – Night ShiftLocation: Frenchtown Bridge, East Greenwich, RI

Our Award-Winning Client, a nationally operating and highly decorated infrastructure consultancy, is seeking a seasoned Chief Inspector to take charge of nighttime inspection efforts on a critical bridge project managed under the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT). This role offers an opportunity to lead complex paving and bridge construction oversight during overnight hours, ensuring technical compliance, safety, and performance excellence.

Position Summary:The selected individual will manage the full scope of inspection responsibilities during night shifts for a high-visibility bridge project. Oversight includes coordination of inspection staff, quality monitoring, and documentation to meet state transportation authority requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Direct and supervise all field inspection efforts during nighttime paving and construction activities

• Evaluate contractor work for conformance with RIDOT standards, materials guidelines, and traffic control procedures

• Guide and manage inspection team activities to ensure proper field reporting and data capture

• Review materials delivery, paving methods, and bridge rehabilitation efforts

• Maintain comprehensive daily documentation, including progress photos and inspection logs

• Coordinate with RIDOT officials, contractor personnel, and stakeholders to manage communication flow

• Assist in resolving field issues, tracking non-conformance items, and handling RFIs as needed

Required Skills and Experience:

• At least seven (7) years of hands-on inspection experience in bridge and roadway projects, including supervisory roles

• Proven background in DOT paving and bridge rehabilitation projects, preferably within Rhode Island or neighboring states

• Deep understanding of RIDOT construction requirements, policies, and documentation processes

• Comfortable working night shifts and weekend hours in accordance with project demands

• Skilled in inspection documentation, report generation, and professional communication

• Valid driver’s license and access to dependable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

• NETTCP Certification in Hot Mix Asphalt Paving Inspection

• Prior experience acting as a Chief or Senior Inspector on bridge rehabilitation projects under a DOT agency
