Job Title: CTDOT Senior Inspector – Night Shift (Paving)
Location: Dexter Coffin Bridge, East Windsor, CT
Our Award-Winning Client, recognized nationally for its outstanding contributions to civil infrastructure and transportation development, is currently in search of a highly experienced Senior Inspector to support night shift paving operations on a Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) bridge project. This role is ideal for a certified professional with substantial experience in field inspections related to paving and roadway construction, particularly under CTDOT standards.
Position Summary:This critical position involves performing overnight oversight of paving activities on the Dexter Coffin Bridge, ensuring all work aligns with state standards and project expectations. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of CTDOT specifications, excellent documentation capabilities, and the ability to collaborate with contractors and public agencies during high-impact construction operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Perform nightly, on-site inspections of asphalt paving activities on a major bridge project
Oversee and validate contractor adherence to CTDOT engineering specifications and schedules
Track and record data related to paving materials, crew activities, and equipment in use
Monitor and enforce quality control measures during hot mix asphalt placement
Work closely with CTDOT representatives and contractor field teams to resolve operational issues in real time
Compile daily inspection logs, photographic records, and supporting field documentation
Enforce and monitor compliance with worksite safety procedures and environmental guidelines
Required Qualifications:
NETTCP Certification in Hot Mix Asphalt Paving Inspection (MANDATORY)
Five (5) or more years of hands-on inspection experience in road or bridge paving environments involving CTDOT oversight
Willingness to work night shifts and weekends, as required by project timelines
Proficient in CTDOT standards for paving operations, asphalt material specs, and construction testing procedures
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on reporting accuracy and field documentation
Must hold a valid driver’s license and possess consistent, reliable transportation
Preferred Attributes:
Field inspection experience specifically involving bridge paving or deck overlays
Familiarity with CTDOT digital reporting tools or construction tracking platforms
Additional NETTCP certifications such as Soils & Aggregates or Concrete Inspection
