Our Award-Winning Client, a nationally recognized leader in the manufacturing and production industry, is seeking a Design Hardware Engineer to join their innovative Life Safety organization. With a focus on creating cutting-edge solutions and leveraging best practices, the engineer will design, develop, test, and document hardware designs while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Technical Expertise:

  • Collaborate closely with various engineering groups within the organization to emphasize design reuse and accelerate project execution.
  • Partner with firmware and mechanical engineering teams to ensure design alignment.
  • Follow established best practices for requirements management, schematics, layout, design for manufacturing/test/modularity, testing (including test automation), and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation using digital tools such as Jira, Jama, and Confluence.
  • Explore and discuss solutions for complex technical challenges.

Electronics Verification and Testing:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive hardware test strategies, plans, and procedures.
  • Support hardware verification activities, including specification reviews, design reviews, schematics/layout reviews, integration tests, environmental testing, ad hoc debugging, and hardware/firmware interface debugging.
  • Collaborate with test engineers to develop and execute hardware tests while ensuring project goals and quality standards are met.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and make actionable recommendations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics design.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
  • Reside within a 50-mile radius of Long Branch, NJ. (Active-duty military members are exempt from this requirement.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with fire alarm systems, emergency communication devices, and related protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
