Our client, a high-end coating and finishing services company is looking for a Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards. Key Responsibilities

Shipping & Receiving Management

  • Oversee outbound shipments to ensure accurate packaging, labeling, and on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate carrier pick-ups, manage freight costs, and ensure compliance with shipping requirements.
  • Supervise the receiving process, verifying incoming materials for accuracy, quality, and proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with inventory teams to ensure correct stock allocation and storage.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged goods, or delivery issues efficiently.

Warehouse Organization & Efficiency

  • Maintain a clean, structured, and organized shipping and receiving area.
  • Implement 5S workplace principles to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and movement of materials to prevent waste or damage.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, train, and mentor shipping and receiving staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Set performance goals, provide feedback, and support team development.
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding new employees as needed.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce workplace safety policies and conduct routine inspections to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and audit records in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all transportation and shipping regulations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the key point of contact between production, customer service, and inventory teams to ensure smooth logistics operations.
  • Communicate shipment schedules, delays, and inventory updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with inventory coordinators to address stock discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy.

Success Metrics

  • Improved on-time shipment and delivery rates.
  • Enhanced accuracy in shipping documentation and inventory records.
  • Reduction in shipment errors, damages, and delays.
  • Increased efficiency in warehouse organization and team performance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High school diploma required; post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in shipping, receiving, or warehouse management, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
    • Proficiency in warehouse management systems and inventory software.
    • Forklift certification or experience with material handling equipment is an advantage.
