An international AmLaw 50 firm is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join its renowned Patent Trial and Appeal Board Practice Group in Los Angeles. This is a compelling opportunity to work on high-stakes intellectual property matters for global clients at the forefront of technology and innovation.

 

 

Candidate Profile

  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in California, in good standing.
  • 2–5 years of substantive experience handling post-grant and IPR proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics is strongly preferred.
    • Other technical degrees will be considered based on relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing technical documentation and developing litigation strategy for complex IP matters.
  • Admission to or eligibility for the U.S. Patent Bar is required.
  • Strong writing, oral advocacy, and research skills, as well as the ability to manage client relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive, leadership-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic and eagerness to take on increasing levels of responsibility.
 
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent leading technology and life sciences clients in post-grant and inter partes review proceedings before the PTAB.
  • Collaborate with seasoned PTAB litigators on complex intellectual property disputes involving cutting-edge technologies.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and technical analysis to support case strategy and expert preparation.
  • Draft briefs, manage discovery, and participate in hearings before administrative and judicial bodies.
  • Provide strategic counseling on patent validity, infringement risks, and enforcement strategy.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: $235,000 – $365,000, commensurate with experience and class year.

  • Discretionary merit bonus eligibility.
