SUPREME COURT & APPELLATE LITIGATION PRACTICE

 

Location: Washington, DC

 

 

Our client, an international Amlaw 50 firm, is seeking an exceptional junior Associate Attorney to join their distinguished Supreme Court & Appellate Practice in Washington, DC. This role offers the chance to litigate some of the most high-profile and consequential appellate matters in the country, including cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, federal courts of appeals, and state supreme courts.

 

 

Candidate Profile

  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in the District of Columbia, in good standing.
  • 1–3 years of substantive appellate or litigation experience.
  • Appellate clerkship experience (US Supreme Court or federal court of appeals) required.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, managing discoverynegotiating with opposing counsel, and arguing motions in court.
  • Demonstrated excellence in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy.
  • Motivated, proactive, and dedicated to delivering superior client service.
  • Passion for appellate advocacy and issue-driven litigation.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills are essential, as well as the ability to handle complex legal matters in a fast-paced environment.
 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft appellate briefs and dispositive motions in high-stakes cases across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with trial teams to preserve appellate issues and develop legal strategy.
  • Analyze complex legal issues and conduct in-depth legal research.
  • Present arguments in appellate courts, including SCOTUS and federal court of appeals.
  • Assist in advising clients on emerging appellate trends and the broader legal landscape.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $225,000-$260,000 annually, as determined by experience and market factors.

  • Bonus Eligibility.
