A leading AmLaw 50 firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its highly-regarded Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity Practice Group. This is a unique opportunity to advise high-profile clients on complex cybersecurity incidents, regulatory frameworks, and strategic legal risk in a constantly evolving digital environment.

 

 

Candidate Profile

  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in the relevant jurisdiction, in good standing.
  • 2–4 years of substantive experience with a focus on cybersecurity incident response, investigations, or regulatory counseling.
  • Experience advising on state, federal, and international privacy and cybersecurity laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, GLBA) and familiarity with evolving incident response protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage breach response matters, advise clients on legal risk mitigation, and contribute to cross-disciplinary matters such as M&A and technology transactions.
  • Prior experience at a government agency handling cybersecurity or privacy issues is valued.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to client service and team engagement.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise technology and cybersecurity companies on compliance obligations, best practices, and commercial transactions involving sensitive data.
  • Provide counseling on legal and operational risk related to data security, threat intelligence, and vulnerability disclosures.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage regulatory exposure and crisis response.
  • Counsel clients on high-stakes incident response matters, including data breach investigations, regulatory inquiries, and internal response strategies.
  • Support corporate and M&A transactions by assessing cybersecurity risk and conducting due diligence on security infrastructure and compliance.
  • Stay at the forefront of developments in data privacy, cybersecurity policy, and enforcement trends across jurisdictions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: $235,000 – $310,000, commensurate with experience and class year.

  • Discretionary merit bonus eligibility.
