Position Summary

As an Outside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for generating new business and maintaining existing accounts within your assigned territory. You will leverage your expertise in fluid power products and applications to recommend solutions that meet our customers’ unique needs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, enjoys technical problem-solving, and is eager to make a direct impact in a growing, family-owned organization.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Territory Management

    • Develop and execute a sales plan to meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets in the assigned region.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, while nurturing existing customer accounts.
  2. Customer Relationship Building

    • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, understanding their fluid power challenges and offering tailored solutions.
    • Conduct on-site visits and product demonstrations, and attend trade shows or industry events as needed.
  3. Technical Sales & Support

    • Maintain a strong working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and related fluid power components (e.g., pumps, valves, hoses, fittings, cylinders, filtration).
    • Collaborate with internal technical specialists and suppliers to develop proposals and troubleshoot application issues.
  4. Negotiation & Closing

    • Prepare and present quotes, proposals, and pricing agreements.
    • Negotiate contract terms to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for both the company and the customer.
  5. CRM & Reporting

    • Track all sales activities, opportunities, and forecasts in the CRM system accurately.
    • Provide timely reports on sales progress, market trends, and customer feedback to management.
  6. Market Intelligence

    • Stay informed of industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies.
    • Share insights with the sales team and leadership to continuously improve product offerings and strategies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
    • 2-5 years of outside sales experience, ideally in fluid power or a closely related industrial sector.
  • Technical Knowledge
    • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including key components and applications.
    • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret basic technical diagrams or specifications.
  • Sales & Communication
    • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport and trust with a diverse customer base.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Other Requirements
    • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
    • Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
