Commercial Underwriting Assistant

Location: Hamilton, ON

Our client is a leading MGA seeking a positive and enthusiastic Commercial Underwriting Assistant for their Hamilton office.

Position Responsibilities

• Underwrite submissions and deliver insurance solutions to retail broker partners.

• Price, authorize, and document moderately to complex commercial accounts in accordance with established authority limits, rating matrices, and Lloyd’s contract guidelines.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with broker partners to support their sales and client service efforts.

• Provide input and suggestions to improve department workflows and efficiency.

• Collaborate with a national underwriting team to build a profitable book of business.

Position Requirements

• Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.

• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.

• Proficiency in Excel, MS Office, Outlook, and/or Policyworks.

• Willingness to pursue a CIP or Risk Management designation.

• Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and evolving technology.
