Position Overview

The Cost Accounting Supervisor will play a key role in managing and overseeing the financial operations related to cost accounting. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the fabricating value of inventory, leading cost reduction efforts, and providing decision support to ensure efficient and accurate business decisions. Additionally, this position is accountable for managing the closing process, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies, and driving continuous improvements to financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management and Reporting:

    • Ensure the integrity of inventory values and metal closing processes.
    • Provide accurate decision support to facilitate business decisions, evaluating and implementing improvements to financial systems.
    • Oversee the financial closing process, ensuring timely reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.
    • Lead the financial and business process audits, maintaining strong internal controls.
  • Cost Reduction and Budgeting:

    • Drive unit cost reduction initiatives and provide strategic insights.
    • Lead the annual burden budget process and periodic review of burden rates.
    • Supervise the preparation of non-metal entries in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead, supervise, and coach direct reports to prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Evaluate the financial impact of long-term commercial contracts and recommend strategies for profit protection and improvement.
  • System and Tool Expertise:

    • Utilize strategic margins, Oracle, Hyperion, and other tools for cost analysis and decision support.
    • Lead the standard costing system and support continuous process improvements to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Background:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance, with a focus on cost accounting or financial analysis.
  • Skills and Knowledge:

    • Expertise in standard costing systems and budget processes.
    • Proficiency in Enterprise Business Systems such as Oracle or SAP.
    • Experience with database query tools like Microsoft Access, Oracle Discoverer, Hyperion, Essbase, Smartview, and related programs.
    • Knowledge of GAAP and Alcoa accounting policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degrees such as MBA or certifications like CPA or CMA.
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with AS400 system.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: Up to $110,000 annually.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in cost accounting or finance within a manufacturing environment. This individual will have a deep understanding of cost systems, financial reporting, and budget management. Experience with Oracle or SAP, along with advanced proficiency in financial analysis tools, is strongly preferred.
