Electrical/Controls Maintenance Technician

Our Award Winning Client, a nationally recognized leader in the industry, is seeking a highly skilled Electrical/Controls Maintenance Technician to join their dynamic team. This role is instrumental in maintaining and improving the reliability of manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute preventive maintenance, including comprehensive annual service checks.

  • Operate and troubleshoot industrial equipment, including 480V AC 3-phase motor controls, 120V AC, and 24V DC control circuits.

  • Maintain plant instrumentation and automated data collection systems.

  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and 4-20 mA calibration units to assess and resolve system issues.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics.

  • Troubleshoot PLCs and Ladder Logic, with a strong preference for Allen-Bradley systems.

  • Implement and refine maintenance processes for enhanced operational efficiency.

  • Adhere to strict safety, health, and environmental protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certification.

  • Identify and document necessary follow-up work for future maintenance.

  • Work collaboratively with supervisors to resolve maintenance concerns.

  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, detailing diagnoses, repairs, labor hours, and deficiencies.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Provide expertise in digital control devices, sensors, serial communications, bar-code readers, scales, RFID systems, wireless networking, and label printers.

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to issue resolution.

  • Support the maintenance of food processing equipment, ensuring compliance with industry-specific safety standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Electrical/Maintenance Journeyman License (State of Michigan).

  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in PLCs and Ladder Logic troubleshooting.

  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and off-shift hours as required.

  • Willingness to participate in the Hazmat team.

  • High School or GED Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a food processing environment.

  • Familiarity with SAP/PPE systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of Allen-Bradley programming and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to effectively use RTD calibrators, digital multimeters, and additional test equipment.

  • Strong understanding of serial communication protocols.

Candidate Profile:

  • 2+ to 5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing maintenance.

  • Mid-Senior level expertise, focusing on technical problem-solving and reliability improvements.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

  • Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and self-directed work ethic.

  • No travel requirements.
