POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

Our client, a leading law firm with a commitment to excellence and innovation, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Analyst to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our firm. The Senior Payroll Analyst will manage complex payroll tasks, including auditing payroll data, processing payroll for multiple pay groups, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and taxes. This position reports to the Payroll Manager and is based in our Operations Center in Brandon, FL.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • ·       Process complex payrolls for multiple pay groups with varying timelines.
  • ·       Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger and reconcile accounts as requested.
  • ·       Analyze and correct payroll data, including taxable wages, gross wages, and W-2 errors.
  • ·       Investigate and resolve issues related to social security, Medicare, and additional Medicare.
  • ·       Conduct 401k audits and analysis on a biweekly and monthly basis; manage wires to fund 401k accounts.
  • ·       Ensure accurate payroll data related to salary adjustments, tax withholdings, and deductions.
  • ·       Perform quarterly tax reconciliations, resolve variances, and assist with federal and state tax compliance.
  • ·       Assist employees with tax elections and requests for special tax calculations.
  • ·       Conduct daily tax/settlement reconciliations.
  • ·       Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external payroll-related inquiries.
  • ·       Lead the registration process for new local and state accounts.
  • ·       Assist with special projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager.

 

Required Skills:

 

  • ·       Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • ·       Ability to work well under pressure, manage strict deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • ·       Excellent communication skills for managing internal and external payroll inquiries.
  • ·       Ability to handle a high volume of emails and maintain confidentiality.
  • ·       Ability to work independently and maintain strong organizational skills.
  • ·       Proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., IF statements, VLOOKUP, PivotTables).

 

Qualifications & Education:

 

  • ·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ·       FPC or CPP certification preferred.
  • ·       6+ years of progressive payroll experience, with strong knowledge of payroll taxes, federal and state regulations, and best practices.
  • ·       Experience with Workday required.
  • ·       Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is a plus.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

·       Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

·       Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.

·       Standard hours of work: Monday through Friday. Some late nights and weekends may be required.

·       Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.

·       Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
