POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

Our client, a leading law firm with a commitment to excellence and innovation, is seeking a Lateral Conflicts Analyst to join our team. The individual will play a crucial role in identifying and resolving conflicts of interest during the hiring process for lateral attorneys and staff candidates. The ideal candidate will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with ethical standards while maintaining confidentiality and integrity throughout the process.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • ·       Collaborate with lateral candidates, sponsoring partners, and the Human Resources Department to gather information necessary for conflict clearance.
  • ·       Conduct reviews and analyze conflict search results related to lateral candidates.
  • ·       Prepare and distribute comprehensive conflict analyses for lateral hires.
  • ·       Track and organize lateral candidates through each stage of the clearance process, ensuring timely progress.
  • ·       Draft waiver letters to address and clear conflicts of interest.
  • ·       Implement and maintain ethical walls and other legal screens as needed.
  • ·       Address inquiries regarding conflicts of interest, business intake processes, and the lateral conflict clearance process.
  • ·       Assist transition partners with handling the clients and matters of departing attorneys.
  • ·       Provide support in identifying and resolving conflicts of interest during new business intake as requested.
  • ·       Stay informed about changes in ethics rules, ethics opinions, and case law pertaining to conflicts of interest.
  • ·       Monitor client mergers and acquisitions to proactively identify and resolve potential conflicts.
  • ·       Maintain and update shared documents to ensure accuracy and currency.
  • ·       Assist in the development of departmental procedures when necessary.

 

Required Skills:

 

  • ·       Strong adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to manage a heavy workload efficiently.
  • ·       Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • ·       Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while exercising sound judgment in escalating issues.
  • ·       Proven ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • ·       Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • ·       Proficient in database and computer skills.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • ·       Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certification.
  • ·       1-year legal experience in identifying and clearing conflicts of interest for lateral hires.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • ·       Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • ·       Experience with conflict clearance for lateral hires in a large law firm.

 

Physical Requirements:            

 

·       Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

·       Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.

·       Standard hours of work: Monday through Friday. Some late nights and weekends may be required.

·       Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.

·       Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
